Regardless of whether you invest through an online broker or robo-advisor, it is prudent to check up on your stock portfolio from time to time.

It’s particularly important to do so if your financial situations or goals change, so you can adjust accordingly.

It may be the case that you hit a financial hurdle and can afford less risk, resulting in you selling stocks and/or investing more in fixed-income assets like bonds. Keeping an eye on the markets is also wise–but don’t focus too much on daily fluctuations!

Taking the decision to invest in stocks is no small one. Take your time to familiarize yourself with the different asset classes on the market, including stocks, and decide which are in line with your financial situation and goals. Subsequently, consider which investment accounts work best for you, keeping in mind factors like costs and minimum deposits.
